Sultan Delight on McCurtain Street

Sultan Delight is a new shop opened on McCurtain Street, Cork, near the Everyman and if this post by Billy Lyons is right, near where the famous Hadji Bey had his shop until the 1970s.

Sultan Delight

The shop sells chocolate, Turkish Delight, teas and coffees, spices, cakes, biscuits and more. The chocolate on display is delicious! I had a Chocolate Orange and it was lovely. It’s very sweet and filling so you wouldn’t eat too many. The Chocolate Mint is really nice too and there’s a Chocolate Smarty in the fridge here at home I’m eyeing up but my son has first dibs on that. I’m sure he’ll share with his Dad. Yeah.

I also tried a delicious biscuit but I can’t remember what it was called so you’ll have to take my word on it that it was tasty. All the food is hand made, prepared by the owner, Yosra or the chefs at the nearby Sultan Restaurant. There’s also a small alcove in the back where you can enjoy a cup of your favourite beverage and a snack.

Go pay them a visit and look around. It’s wonderful to see such a selection of food in a small shop, you’ll love it!

Food fit for a Sultan in Blackrock

There’s a market every Sunday morning/afternoon in Blackrock village, Cork and one of the highlights is the stall run by Taoufik Hamammi, owner of the Sultan restaurant in the city. They specialise in Lebanese and Moroccan food and it is delicious.

I’m making myself hungry looking at these photos, brb. Yum Yum!

Cinderella at the Everyman

Last night I went to my first panto (that I remember anyway). Oh no you didn’t! Oh yes I did! Oh no… Well, never mind!

Anyway, Cinderella is on in the Everyman in Cork with a great cast who put on an amazing show for kids and adults. It was so much fun, and I laughed so hard at times I had a three year old in the next seat look at me strangely. The singing, dancing and music are top notch and entertaining. I haven’t enjoyed myself at the theatre so much in a long time!

It would be a crime for these shows not to be sold out, and if the page above is anything to go by there is some availability. I checked their booking page however and it’s showing other show times as sold out so book your tickets quickly.

Cork City on a Saturday Night

This is a not-so flattering look at Cork City on a Saturday night, but it’s probably repeated most everywhere where drink is served.

I like the music though. Could this be a sneaky attempt to make a viral video for the musician? Bet there’ll be an exclusive interview with or The Examiner in a few days time. Or, as one Reddit user said,

obvious propaganda from the government in Dublin who want to annex our republic.

Of course.
