Lots of Irish in Texas

After I found out that Waterford had moved to Kilkenny (thanks ILUG!) on Google Maps I became curious and searched for Blarney and found Blarney Stone Street in Tyler, Texas. Check out all the street names!

Irish in Texas

You could travel all over Ireland by walking up and down a few streets in that town! Dublin, Limerick, Ulster, Blarney. I have to wonder who named a street, “Irish Moss St.” Sounds like something you get at a garden centre!

You never know, I might visit Tyler in Texas some day.

  1. Wow! There must have been a strong Irish settlement there in that part of Texas! There are plenty of Dublins, I’m sure – including in my home state of Ohio.

I think many of us in the U.S. have Irish blood – though some of us may not be aware of it. How many Irish names do many of us recognize?

I’m glad I found your blog! I love the Irish and am preparing St. Patrick’s Day piano music programs for my audiences.

The Irish Washerwoman is one of my favorite songs – what is one of yours?

Top O’ the mornin’ to ya!

  2. Interesting… I live in Tyler, Texas and I have never been down that street.
Tyler is known for it’s Roses.
I wonder if the Irish Rose and Tyler have anything in common?!?
    Gib,

  3. How can you mark so particular detail of google map? Also you can insert google map code in your blog instead of a photo.
